Small Hinges Swing Big Doors

This is a common life hack that many of use, whether we are actually aware of it or not.

Plain and simple…the little things, if done or performed frequently and consistently, add up.

Saving $50 a paycheck may not seem like much, but before you know it you have a pretty decent sum in front of you.

Spending intentional time with your kids everyday builds up exponentially once they are teenagers or grown-ups.

Arriving to work 15 minutes early everyday may just show your loyalty and lead to a promotion one day.

The same is true with your body. One of my absolute favorite sayings that a mentor of mine told a client once was this, “You treating yourself 2-3 times a day at home, is better than only seeing me once a week.”

Here’s the thing…sometimes it’s not the super complicated agendas that make change. More often, it’s the compounding interest of the small items.

Teaching a proper hinging pattern or squat pattern may not seem like a huge deal, but practicing and getting good at it will lead to further performance progress down the road.

Learning how to activate glute muscles may not seem like a huge deal, until you notice your lower back hurting less during kettlebell swings.

These are what we like to call the “small hinges”. The hinges on a door are tiny in comparison to the door itself. Look at them, go ahead, look. However, they are responsible handling this heavier object to swing back and forth. This example shows how we manage conditions that lead to healing, confidence, and performance.

The door in this analogy is you, your goals, your lifestyle, habits…you name it! It doesn’t always need to be fancy. Focusing on the small hinges, the small things, that overtime have massive impact in not just your condition such as lower back pain, or not even just the gym…but in life too.

Cheers!
